Vintage Chateau Suduiraut 1997

£73.00

Classified as a Premier Cru in 1855, Château Suduiraut is a prestigious Bordeaux estate renowned for its exceptional Sauternes. The château is located in Preignac, with vineyards neighbouring the legendary Château d’Yquem. Benefiting from a unique microclimate, morning mists and warm afternoons encourage the development of Botrytis cinerea (noble rot), the key to the luscious concentration and complexity of Sauternes.

The 1997 vintage reveals an expressive and refined bouquet of honey, fresh apricot, orange peel, and crème brûlée, with a gentle note of soft butter. As it opens, layers of clove, marmalade, and candied citrus emerge, adding depth and nuance. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep, and focused, displaying a fine core of fruit, lively acidity, and an impressively long, harmonious finish.

Now with over 25 years of age, this wine is beautifully balanced by the freshness of its primary fruit, the complexity of subtle oak tones and the evolution into dried fruit and honeyed tertiary notes. This wine is in its prime drinking window.
