Interesting Fact: Clare is a trained artist whose creative work now stems integrally from her rural life. Her drawings & paintings are a continuum of her work raising cattle, pigs and chickens, producing Big Table Farm Wine and working her draft horses. Having studied fermentation science at Davis, Brian worked his first harvest in 1996 and took to the process of winemaking easily and loved it. While working in Napa Valley, Brian learned from some of California’s most esteemed winemakers and wineries – Turley Wine Cellars, Neyers Vineyards, Blankiet Estate and Marcassin, to name just a few. Brian also spent a harvest working in Australia at Trevor Jones Fine Wines.

In 2006, Brian and wife Clare moved to Oregon from Napa to start working on their shared dream: a full working estate managed under a farm-to-table philosophy. Their first 150 cases were released in the same year. Their Oregon adventure is based upon a shared desire to grow grapes, make wine, raise animals and nurture their other individual projects.

They named the farm and winery after the goal to provide a gracious and welcoming table for themselves and their friends, with a cornucopia of hand-crafted food and wine. Just over ten years after the project’s inception, they have developed the land into a working farm and built a barn and winery.

In addition to partnering with Brian to market the wine and manage their 70 acres, Clare is also a painter and wine label designer. Her fine art speaks for itself and her labels have received multiple awards, including America’s top ten wine labels (S.F.  Chronicle).
