Interesting fact: Nyetimber was the first UK sparkling wine to win blind tasting competitions against Champagne, which understandably annoyed (and intrigued!) the French.

Nyetimber Wines

Devoted exclusively to Champagne’s noble varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier) and with a premium terroir similar to that of the Paris basin, Nyetimber has, through meticulous attention to detail and precise winemaking, developed a unique classical style to rival and better our French neighbours.

How we found them/How Richard found them:
I have always had so much respect for what Nyetimber has achieved. We are extremely lucky to be selected as one of only a few distributors in the UK and hope that we can solidify the reputation they continue to reinforce as one of England’s great sparkling producers, rightly recognised internationally.

Located in the South Downs, the valley of Nyetimber has a lengthy history, first recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086.

Almost exactly 900 years on, in 1988, the first Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier vines were planted and Nyetimber became the first estate in the United Kingdom to devote its production to the traditional champagne trio only.

Eric Heerema became the owner and custodian of Nyetimber in 2006, having immediately recognised the full potential of its location and terroir. It was around this time that married couple Cherie Spriggs and Brad Greatrix were gifted a bottle of Nyetimber sparkling wine. Brad said he “realised that something special was happening at Nyetimber” and so together they decided to make contact. Both sharing the same passion as Eric, Cherie was appointed as Head Winemaker and Brad as Winemaker.
