Vintage Roulot Mersault Tillets 2011

£400.00

Domaine Roulot is renowned for the chiselled precision of the wines it produces, each expressing the intricate differences between appellations and crus. Jean-Marc Roulot has developed a uniquely elegant style that set a new benchmark for Meursault: mineral and restrained rather that the fat and creamy versions of yore. The vineyards have been farmed organically since 1999, with some experiments in biodynamics. The use of wood is subtle (only 20 to 30% new oak) and use simply to aerate without imparting flavour. The ultimate goal is to let the character of each plot to come through.

All of Roulot’s Meursault sites are on the south side of the village, home to Meursault’s best terroirs with the best soil. Highest on the south facing slope of Tillets, his most floral and mineral wine. Being now 10 years old, this wine is in superb age-worthy form to drink and see how good it can be! Burgundy from the masters at this age are extremely rare.

All of Roulot’s Meursault sites are on the south side of the village, home to the appelation’s best terroirs. Highest on the south facing slope sits the Tillets lieu-dit, home of his most floral and mineral wine. Now 10 years old, this bottle is drinking superbly and really showing its full potential!
Tillets is, as we said, a great mineral style of Meursault; not too buttery, not too oaky and not too floral, with minerality and acidity in perfect balance. Pale yellow in colour, the nose is full of citrus, lime, pear and passion fruit aromas, topped by stony minerality, almonds, herbs and a touch of cashew. It is multi-layered, elegant and effortlessly complex.
