We are very proud to have Mas de Daumas Gassac’s wines on our portfolio. Having believed in making wine in what was a farming county many decades ago, their belief in the region paid off with them proving the soil and terroir could make outstanding wine. Now generations on, they are well regarded as the ‘first growth of the Languedoc’ with their flagship, complex Estate wines and now a much more affordable everyday range.
As with the famous Mas de Daumas Estate Red, this top Languedoc white combines an eclectic range of 20 grape varieties to create masses of complexity. Viognier, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Petit Manseng are the main backbone and character, but the other 16 are a mind-boggling collection of deliciousness. Incredibly, all of them are vinified separately and the wine is assembled when ready.
Now at full maturity. The 2006 displays a rich golden colour. On the nose, the wine reveals pronounce aromas of stone fruits, white peach, apricots, white flowers, and caramel. On the palate, there is honey, raisins, marzipan, nuts with some lively acidity and some bitterness in the finish.
