The 2014 Blanc de Blancs is composed of the Grands Crus Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. Made only of chardonnay grapes coming from the heart of the Cote des Blancs region. 2014 was a particularly notable year on account of its contrast, in terms of its temperature variations and the distribution of rainfall. This vintage cuvee was aged eight years on the lees and a further 16 to 18 months of bottle ageing after disgorgement.
The 2014 reveals a brilliant, pale gold tint, with a fine and chiselled effervescence reflecting the wine’s long ageing period. The nose is very enveloping with initial aromas of stone fruits, hawthorn and sea spray. The generous citrus notes of yuzu and blood orange are lifted by a fresh aniseed flavour, curating a palate that is precise and supple. The wine is well-rounded with a beautiful ripeness. As promised by the appearance, the texture is caressing, almost unctuous. There is great aromatic integration between the nose and the palate.
The theme behind this label artwork is “Gormand”, which reflects the surprising generosity of this vintage – yet freshness on the palate. Like many premium Champagnes, if you’re purchasing for collection or aging purposes, we recommend opting for a magnum. The larger format allows the wine to age gracefully and evolve beautifully over time.
