Winemaker Justin Willet’s inspiration has come from local winemakers and European producers such as Roulot, Bonneau du Martray, Dujac, Bachelet and Rousseau. The Tyler wines are vinified from grapes that tend to be picked earlier than most with the aim of achieving bright aromatics and fresh flavours with modest use of oak.
This wine is a homage to the old style of right-bank, Merlot dominant, soft Bordeaux blends and spends 18 months on oak barrels, of which one third is new. Aromatically, the wine is lovely and perfumed with flavours of dark cherries, tart raspberries, pomegranate, bright red fruit, smooth tannins and lingering, peppery and spices. A great wine to showcase very traditional styles, made by a modern and precise winemaker.
