The winemaker known as the ‘master of Tokaji’ for a reason – these aged ultra-sweet Tokajis are rare and are hugely better value vs the top Sauternes. At nearly 20 years old, this wine has now developed into a burnt orange colour, almost towards red plum skin. The nose is incredibly intense and rich; burnt toffee, dried apricots, apricot pureé/concentrate and the palate surprises you by being light on its feet. Flavours of tarte tatin, baked & stewed apples, toffee, orange concentrate and burnt orange skin are offset against delicate and persistent cleansing acidity. A super-long finish with a gentle, pure velvet mouthfeel. Szepsy’s Tokajis are the standard that everyone aspires to in Tokaji – and with 20 years of age under their belts these wines are now very rare.
