A shiraz-viognier blend is something that comes from the Northern Rhone in France, it put a specific wine (called Cote Rotie) on the map. Why? 10% of white viognier adds a perfumed lift and a certain silky, oily texture whilst the deep and peppery shiraz gives all that delicious mouth-filling deep red fruit flavours.
In the glass, its nose is expressive with flavours of vanilla pod and red cherries. In your mouth, it has darker fruits and dried fig with complex profile providing generous notes of smoke, spices and clove. The oak in this wine gives a malty, toasty and nutty finish. Overall this wine is deep, dark, silky and layered but at the same time still light on its feet. Classy.
