Vintage Niepoort Batuta 2011

£172.00

“Less is more”, reflecting the concept of this wine. 70-100-year-old vines in the Douro provide the fruit for Niepoort’s masterpiece, superbly complex, fine and elegant wine. The vines sit on a colder north facing slope to enable slow and balanced ripening. Being one of the estate’s most premium wines, Luis the winemaker uses a very delicate vinification process with a long maceration (but little extraction), where all the fine detail can drop into the wine.

Batuta has a distinctive nose which is both powerful and complex. it is a full-bodied wine, with a great concentration of black fruits and fine and delicate tannins. It is dense with a structure built to age; it boasts harmony and balance which is one of the reasons it’s become so famous as one of the flagship wines from Niepoort. Now 10+ years od it is drinking brilliantly and a rare find.
