Somlo is famous for a big hill, borne from volcanic rock. The wines from this area are known for an incredible, vivacious minerality imparted by this unique terroir.
Kolonics Olaszrizling is a complex example of the quality this region can deliver, partly down to the wine being aged in 15-year-old oak barrels which helps it develop a complex array of aromas and textures. Expect a journey through different flavours as you sniff, sip and taste; peach, apple, lemon, white flowers followed by an undertone of sweeter notes. Refreshing and long finish lifted by a pleasant grapefruit pith bitterness. Whilst fantastic now, this wine will continue to develop beautifully for the next 20 years, supported by its mineral backbone.
