Somlo is famous for a big hill, borne from volcanic rock which possesses incredible minerality which is passed on to the wines that grow on and through the ancient Somlo rock. Kolonic’s Furmint is not like the dry Tokaji styles which are much more widely available. Furmints from this area are much rarer.
The wine is light-bodied and with flavours of gentle honey undertones, it has an almost Chablis-esq minerality and struck-match smokiness. A beautiful texture and mouthfeel follow into a wine which has tons of potential to keep getting better with age.
