Vintage JL Chave St Joseph ‘Offerus’ 2015

Jean-Louis Chave has a gift for crafting captivating wines. This is partly achieved because the Chave family owns the best parcels in Hermitage and St Joseph, from which he blends with unparalleled skill. He’s quite rightly a Wine Icon and we are delighted to have sourced just a few parcels of mature wines which are at their peak.

The ‘Offerus’ St Joseph is old-vine Syrah that’s all about the fruit: the nose hits you with an explosion of vibrant red and black cherry with a floral lining. These are followed by black pepper, star anise and light smoke. The pallet is a lovely marriage of deep fruit, spice, violet and earth, for a prime expression of the Northern Rhône. Once poured the wine will evolve continuously, revealing multiple layers of aromatic complexity. Texturely, it is silky, focused and well balanced with a lively finishing thrust. Dynamic and generous, yet easy drinking with fine tannins and minerality, this wine has it all without breaking the bank.
