The HJ Wiemer Dry Riesling Reserve is produced with hand-harvested harvested fruit, carefully selected over multiple passes in the estate’s vineyards best parcels. Allowed to spend more time on the vine the grapes can develop more complexity and concentration of flavour during the cool early Autumn in the Finger Lakes.
The wine is a more complex that their Dry Riesling, with more texture and a richer mouthfeel. A very classic Riesling nose of ripe citrus, stone fruit and acacia honey. Fruit and minerality play on the palate with masses of fruit supported by refreshing minerality and a nutty edge.
Lots of moreish ‘tension’ and a long finish make this a wonderful proof of how good Finger Lakes Riesling can be.
An age-worthy bottle that can be cellared for over 20 years.
