To say that White Tempier Bandol is rare, is an understatement: it accounts for less than 3% of Tempier’s total production. This parcel of 2006 was stored perfectly in a collector’s cellar until we got our hands on it. It is widely respected as one of, if not the finest, white wine from Provence.
Now 15 years old, the wine has a lovely golden amber yellow hue. Like all white wines that can age, it will change and develop more nutty and dried fruit flavours. The wine now shows a lovely waxy, layered and almost oily texture. Once opened it will develop in the glass and after 15 minutes becomes fruitier. Rich notes of almond, white flowers, straw, citrus blossom and intense stone fruits. Not a wine many will get to experience and a real window into the superb ageability of Tempier’s white wine.
