Domaine Jamet is a producer which easily earn Wine Icon status as one of the most important and hallowed producers in the Rhone. Jamet is famous for making their wines with absolute regard for the land it is grown on; organic in many ways with an underlying respect for nature. The wines are made in a relatively traditional manner with some whole bunch pressing and are partly aged in old barrels in order to not have much of an influence on the purity of the fruit. All the grapes that go into their Cote Rotie come from the slate soiled terroir, known in the Northern Rhone as Côte Brune.
Jamet’s Cote Rotie shouldn’t need an introduction – it is such an amazing wine that at 10 years old it is now in its prime drinking window to show its full spectrum of characters. The wine is classic in nature; the fruit is fresh and pure with notes of thyme, kirsch, black pepper, iodine, blood sausage, liquorice, smoke and violet. Medium-bodied, with the structure to continue evolving The tannins are extraordinarily silky and elegant.
