Founded in the 12th century by Cistercian monks, Château de Jau is an historical Roussillon estate where olive trees, cypresses and vine share the land, surrounded by wild garrigue. The growing conditions here are ideal: bright sunshine, complex mineral-rich soils (limestone, clay and schist) and the influence of the Mediterranean winds which temper the summer heat and air the vineyards, ensuring healthy and perfectly ripe grapes.
Dandy is Château de Jau’s more premium red, from the Côtes du Roussillon Villages appellation, made with fruit from prime plots planted on black marl and brown schist soils. It has an intense nose of blackberry compote, red cherry yoghurt with a spicy touch of black and pink pepper. The palate is round yet well-structured, with firm tannins and refreshing acidity. Ripe red and black fruit flavours throughout lined by gentle spiciness. Very versatile, this wine pair well with many foods. Best enjoyed a touch colder than room temperature.
