Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wineries in France, notorious for its elegance, poise and ageing potential. Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir at the Northern point of Châteauneuf du Pape, exposed to the cooling Mistral wind which provides such balance. All thirteen grape varieties of the Chateauneuf have been organically grown since the sixties; without a doubt, Beaucastel is a name we are proud to highlight and an organic wine icon that many have learnt from.
Coudoulet is their much lower-priced Cotes du Rhone and whilst being much cheaper than the muscular Chateauneuf du Papes, this is no simple quaffer. The wine gives a rich perfume of liquorice, smokiness, saddle leather, blackberries, cherries, and a hint of exotic spices. Medium to full-bodied, it has superb concentration, richness and also purity, it can be drunk now and over the next 10-15 years. This top Cotes du Rhone should also provide age-ability – one of the best examples in the Rhone Valley of this more entry appellation.
