We are very lucky to get a chunk of Baxter’s limited amounts of Northern California, high elevation Chardonnay which has a great balance of the warm California sunshine and a cooling coastal fog. Due to the high elevation and cold climate, it is much more in a style of crisp, precise Chablis with some gentle oak than a buttery Napa white.
This is a clean, crisp, mineral Chardonnay that is aged in neutral French oak barrels. On the nose is has gentle orange blossom, citrus and spices. In the mouth, it is soft, balanced citrus dominated with minerality and a defined stony character. The fresh, mineral, complex structure gives elegance out to a long finish. This can be drank now and really enjoyed but also holds great potential to age for up to 10 years.
