South Africa
South Africa’s wine production is powerful and impressive. Long, sun-drenched summers and mild, wet winters contribute to the ideal conditions for viticulture at the Cape. The sunny climate is balanced by Mountain ranges and “the Cape Doctor” a dry southeasterly wind. South Africa continues to grow and develop and has overcome many challenges to hold its ranking as a top wine producer. The main production is Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, however, their native Chenin Blanc and Pinotage are firm favourites for locals and those in the know; displaying both savoury and rich tropical notes, these wines are complex and well-structured. A must-try is their Cap Classique, a traditional method sparkling wine!
